Uncle Fung Origin Story! 

Inspired by the resounding success of her father, Uncle Fung, and the flourishing Borneo Eatery, along with his thriving Uncle Fung Borneo Eatery location, Valencia, the youngest in the family, was resolute in her determination to walk in her father's illustrious footsteps. She found herself captivated by the beauty of her father's culinary creations, igniting a passionate journey in the world of flavors, side by side with her father.

 

Their joint exploration took them to Singapore and Malaysia, where they were warmly embraced by the locals and treated to exceptional delicacies and heartfelt hospitality that touched Valencia's heart. Their adventure extended to iconic kopitiams and humble food stalls, each leaving an indelible mark on her soul. Driven by the mission to share this extraordinary experience with the United States, she committed to delivering an authenticity that would enchant your taste buds, leaving a craving for more.

Hailing from Indonesia, Valencia recognized the opportunity to introduce a cultural fusion that celebrated her own roots. The choice to exclusively source coffee beans from her homeland, Indonesia, was a testament to this commitment, introducing a harmonious clash of flavors and traditions that made their creations truly exceptional.

"It took me years and lots of dedication to turn this vision to life and it definitely wasn't something that happened overnight. Every corner of our shop has been carefully crafted to tell a story, to carry a piece of our heritage, and to spark something deeper within. My hope is that as you step through our doors, you’re met with a sense of nostalgia—a reminder of childhood memories, the flavors of home, and the beauty of our roots. From using Single-Origin beans sourced from Indonesia to weaving native ingredients and childhood treats into every flavor, I want every visit to feel like a culinary journey through our culture.

 

The most rewarding part of this experience has been seeing how much joy and connection it has brought to so many. To know that something I’ve poured my heart into has resonated so deeply with others is truly an honor.
